- How do I convert a video to GIF online?
- Upload your video, set the frame rate and width, optionally specify start and end times, then click Process. The GIF is created entirely in your browser — no upload needed.
- How can I make the GIF file size smaller?
- Lower the frame rate (5-10 FPS is usually enough), reduce the width, trim to a shorter clip, and keep Optimize Colors enabled. Each of these reduces file size significantly.
- What is the Optimize Colors toggle?
- It generates a custom 256-color palette for each frame, producing sharper GIFs with less banding. It's slower but almost always worth enabling.
- Is there a length limit for GIFs?
- No hard limit, but GIFs get very large with long clips. For best results keep GIFs under 10 seconds. For longer animations, consider our Video to Animated JXL tool which produces much smaller files.
