- We use BiRefNet, an open-source AI segmentation model, to detect the subject (person, object, animal) in your photo or video. The detected subject is preserved exactly, and a smooth Gaussian blur is applied only to the background — like the depth-of-field on a portrait-mode smartphone or a DSLR with a fast lens.
- Does it work on videos?
- Yes. The AI processes each frame, detecting the subject and blurring the background. Works best when the subject doesn't change drastically between frames.
- How is this different from a Gaussian blur filter?
