Free Light Leaks

Ten light leak overlays — warm sunset, golden glow, pink haze, teal flare, rainbow prism, film burn, bokeh and more — made by us, free to use anywhere. Seamless 1080p loops: download for your editor or apply to a video online.

A light leak overlay is a clip of soft, drifting colored light on a black background; blended with the Screen mode over your footage, the black disappears and the light washes over the picture like sun hitting a film camera's gate. Every leak here was generated by us — free for any use, no attribution: download the seamless 1080p loop and set it to Screen in your editor, or click Use on a video to apply it in your browser.

10 clips · 1080p MP4 · Black base — set the clip's blend mode to Screen in your editor. Every preview is the clip applied to the same reference frame.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use a light leak in Premiere, Resolve or CapCut?
Put the leak on a track above your footage and set its blend mode to Screen (Premiere: Opacity → Blend Mode; Resolve: Composite Mode; CapCut: Blend → Screen). Lower the opacity for a subtle wash. Because the clips loop seamlessly you can repeat them for as long as you need.
Why Screen and not Overlay?
Screen only ever lightens: black stays invisible and the colored light adds to the picture, which is how real leaks look. Overlay would also darken the darker parts of the leak clip.
Do these work on vertical video?
Yes — scale the 16:9 clip up to cover a 9:16 frame in your editor, or let the online overlay tool fit it to your video automatically.
Are these really free?
Yes. Every leak is computed, not filmed from licensed footage, so there is no rights holder. Use them in personal or commercial work with no attribution.
