- Which blend mode should I use?
- Screen for anything on a black background — light leaks, lens flares, bokeh, flashes, glitch bursts: black disappears and the light adds to your picture. Overlay for film grain and textures on a mid-grey background: grey disappears and the grain modulates your picture. Add is a brighter Screen, Multiply darkens.
- Can I use my own overlay footage?
- Yes — upload any MP4 or WebM in the second slot. Overlays from stock sites and editing packs work the same way; use the blend mode the pack recommends.
- How do I put a flash on a cut?
- Turn off Repeat, pick a flash or light sweep overlay, and set Start at to the time of the cut in seconds. The overlay plays once from that moment.
- Does the overlay change the audio?
- No — the soundtrack is copied unchanged.
- The film grain looks faint on my video — why?
- Grain is fine texture, and two things soften it: scaling a 1080p grain clip down onto a small video, and the encoder, which smooths noise first. Pick a heavier grain (16mm, 8mm or old-film), keep the opacity at 100 %, and choose Balanced or Smallest-file quality rather than Fast — the slower presets keep more of the grain.
