- What resolution does Instagram recommend?
- 1080x1080 pixels for square feed posts, 1080x1920 for Reels and Stories (9:16), and 1080x1350 for portrait feed posts (4:5). Higher resolutions are downscaled by Instagram.
- Will resizing reduce video quality?
- Upscaling a low-resolution video won't improve quality. Downscaling (e.g., 4K to 1080p) preserves excellent quality and reduces file size. Instagram compresses videos further on upload anyway.
- Should I resize or crop for Instagram?
- Either works here. Pick an Instagram preset and the video comes out at exactly that size: by default the whole picture sits over a blurred copy of itself, or set the Resize method to Crop to fill to trim the edges. To choose the crop region by hand, use our Crop Video for Instagram tool.
