Why your slow motion is choppy
Slow motion is simple math with an ugly failure mode. Say you shot at 30 frames per second and slow the clip to 25% speed. Your player now needs 120 frames for every second of original footage — but you only recorded 30. The editor has two bad options: show each frame four times (stutter) or blend neighbouring frames together (ghosting). Either way, the result feels like a slideshow, not the buttery slow-mo you pictured.
That’s why phones have a dedicated slo-mo camera mode: it records at 120 or 240 fps so there are enough real frames to play back slowly. If you didn’t shoot in that mode, the frames simply don’t exist.
The fix: generate the missing frames with AI

What slow motion works best on
Interpolation is at its best when motion is continuous and visible:
- Sports and action — a skate trick, a dog catching a ball, a dive.
- Drone and driving shots — smooth camera motion interpolates almost perfectly.
- Hair, water, fabric, smoke — the classic cinematic subjects.
It struggles when the original frames don’t contain enough information: extreme motion blur, strobing lights, or things that appear and disappear between frames (fast confetti, rain close to the lens). If your source is 24 fps film with heavy blur, temper expectations — the AI can’t recover what was never captured.
Pro tips for better results
- Slow the raw clip, not an export. Every re-encode costs quality; feed the interpolator your cleanest file.
